Charlotte Beer reports: QCBF 2014 Preview

If you attended last year’s Queen City Brewers Festival, you were one of the lucky ones. Not just because it was such an excellent display of all that Charlotte’s beer scene has to offer, but because tickets sold out online in a matter of hours. In the weeks leading up to the festival, I was approached by so many people who had missed out, hoping that they could somehow wrangle a ticket.

So here’s your heads up: if you want to attend the festival, be ready to buy your tickets tomorrow. Tickets will go on sale at 11 a.m., but if you’re the forgetful type I’d encourage you to sign up on the website to receive an e-mail reminder. You will have the option of two tasting sessions – either 1-4 p.m. or 6-9 p.m. – and tickets are $35 for each session.

The third year of the festival shares much in common with the past two years. It will take place on the Saturday before the Super Bowl, and will celebrate Charlotte’s breweries as well as a host of other exhibitors that include local bars, restaurants and beer stores. In addition to some of their core lineups and seasonal offerings, the breweries will bring one “super” beer just for the festival, since it takes place the day before the big game. And who knows, maybe the Carolina Panthers will be playing in it this year?

The festival will move from NoDa out to the Silver Hammer Studios at the NC Music Factory. Live music will be performed during both tasting sessions. The festival will once again support ACEing Autism, a non-profit whose mission ” is to make the sport of tennis available to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).”
