Queen City Brewers Festival 2013 Recap

The 2nd Annual Queen City Brewers Festival (QCBF) made its return to the Neighborhood Theatre in Charlotte’s historic arts district with incredible enthusiasm. Both sessions sold out just three hours after going on sale – further proof that the Queen City truly has a special craft beer culture.

QCBF is exclusive to the Charlotte-area breweries that are putting the Queen City on the craft beer map. Each brewery showcased its full lineup of beers and brewers were encouraged to bring one “super” flavor or style of beer especially for QCBF, as the event always takes place the day before the Super Bowl. Super Brew highlights included Four Friends Brewing’s “Valentine’s Day Brew” – a raspberry and white chocolate porter (7.6% ABV); NoDa Brewing’s “Imperial Coco Loco” – an imperial version of its 2012 GABF Silver Medal Winning robust porter, featuring slight bitterness from American chocolate balanced with a sweet roastiness of toasted organic coconut (9.7% ABV); and Triple C Brewing’s “Up All Night Breakfast Porter” – a high gravity ale brewed with honey and lactose in the boil then aged for several weeks on oak chips and finally infused with locally roasted coffee from Magnolia Coffee Company (10% ABV).

QCBF organizers owe a special thanks to our city’s breweries, generous sponsors and partners, and of course, the event’s host, Partners for Parks – thank you for your support! We look forward to welcoming you to the third annual QC Brew Fest on Feb. 1, 2014.
